Venable Leads Ventura by Valley College, 89-76
Kevin Venable had 23 points and eight rebounds to lead Ventura College to an 89-76 nonconference victory over Valley in a season-opening basketball game for both teams Tuesday in Ventura.
John Windham led Valley with 18 points, and Clyde Fontenette added 16. Valley’s Bill Studley converted three three-point field goals to finish with nine points.
Ventura led, 54-43, at halftime and overcame 21 turnovers. Valley committed 20 turnovers.
