Community College Basketball Roundup : Golden West Falls to Glendale on a Last-Second Shot, 83-81

Glendale College guard Jesse Ellis scored as time ran out Wednesday to give his team a 83-81 victory over Golden West in the first round of the Antelope Valley College tournament at Lancaster.

Glendale was led by David Djolakian who scored 22 and had 10 rebounds. Ellis scored 17 points.

Anthony Howard topped Golden West with 18 points and Jim Stewart added 14 for the Rustlers.

The score was tied for much of the game’s last two minutes. Glendale turned the ball over to Golden West with a little more than a minute to play, but then Golden West returned the favor with six seconds left.

After a Glendale timeout, Ellis took the in-bounds pass and scored on a drive.

Golden West will play Riverside College in the consolation bracket.

In other tournament action:

College of the Desert 90, Cypress 82--Andy Olivarez had 20 points in a losing cause for the Chargers (2-5). Steve Carrier had 29 points to lead College of the Desert.
