Orange Coast Eliminated in Volleyball

The Grossmont College women’s volleyball team eliminated Orange Coast College from the Southern California playoffs Wednesday night, 16-14, 15-12 and 15-7, in a quarterfinal match at Grossmont.
The Pirates, who finished the season 14-3, were led by sophomores Ann Javage and Cindy Thomas, each with seven kills, and sophomore setter Kim Rochow with 29 assists. The Griffins are 14-2.
In another regional playoff:
Palomar 3, Golden West 2--The Comets (14-2) eliminated the Rustlers (12-4) at Golden West, 15-10, 6-15, 15-13, 14-16 and 15-2.
Golden West was led by Barrie Dafforn with 12 kills and three aces. Setter Leslie Osterman had 16 assists.
The regionals continue at Golden West Saturday with games at 1 and 3 p.m. with the championship at 7.
