A Lawndale man was stabbed to death and left in a burning shack on a cliff below a San Pedro neighborhood, police said. The body of James Michael Carreiro, 38, was found near Angels Gate Park by a surfer who had climbed up to the shack in the 900 block of Paseo Del Mar to put out the fire. The shack, about a mile north of the Point Fermin Lighthouse and just a few blocks south of the Ft. MacArthur Reservation, was heavily damaged.
