Garden Grove : Hit-Run Driver Sought in Injury of Pedestrian

A 31-year-old Garden Grove man was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver as he stepped out of his car following an argument with his wife, authorities said Tuesday.

Police have mounted a search for the driver who hit David Hutton shortly before 6:30 p.m. Monday on Magnolia Street at Westminster Avenue, Officer Bruce Davis said.

Davis said Hutton was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was being treated for broken ribs, a broken leg and shoulder and cuts to his head and arms. Hutton was in serious but stable condition in the intensive care unit, a hospital spokeswoman said.

According to police, Hutton was stopped at a red light in a southbound lane of Magnolia Street at Westminster Avenue when he stepped from behind the wheel of his car after arguing with his wife, who was a passenger. As Hutton crossed Magnolia, he was hit by a white, mid-size, American-made car that was traveling northbound, Davis said.

The hit-and-run driver was described as a woman wearing a pony tail, Davis said, adding that the car being sought probably was damaged on the right, front fender.
