A Win Tonight Advances Valley to Quarterfinals
The Valley College women’s basketball team plays host to Miracosta in a second-round game of the Southern California regional playoffs at 7:30 tonight.
The winner advances to the state junior college quarterfinals March 5-7 at Cypress College.
Valley (24-4), seeded second in the tournament and ranked third in the state, advanced with a first-round victory over Citrus, 74-45, Wednesday.
Miracosta (21-4), seeded seventh and ranked 17th, defeated Bakersfield, 79-69, in the first round.
It will be the final home appearance for Jim Stephens as the Monarchs women’s coach. Stephens will coach the Valley men’s team next season.
In a late first-round game Wednesday night, Moorpark College (18-11), seeded 12th, was eliminated by No. 5 Cerritos, 59-58.
