Monte Vista 59, Madison 38--Scott Winne scored 17 points to lead Monte Vista (18-5) over Madison (17-8). Robby Robinson scored 14 points to lead Madison (17-8). Monte Vista was 14 for 17 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter as it outscored Madison, 17-9.

El Camino 79, La Jolla 76 (0T)--Lee Cobb and Edmond Johnson combined for 75 of El Camino’s 79 points, but it was Buster Evans’ free throw with 27 seconds remaining in overtime that gave El Camino (22-3) the victory over La Jolla (17-10).

La Jolla had led in overtime, 76-74, when Cobb tied the game at 76. Evans then made the second of two foul shots and Steve Carter added an insurance basket with 27 seconds left. Cobb had 39 points with 17 rebounds and 4 blocked shots, and Johnson had 36 points and 11 assists. Adam Kleid and Sean Rogers led La Jolla with 23 and 22 points, respectively.

Castle Park 75, Christian 63-- Castle Park (21-4) outscored Christian, 25-8, in the fourth quarter to overcome a five-point deficit. John Stanton scored 20 points to lead Castle Park, with teammates Javier Nunez and Vince Bucca adding 18 and 17 points.

In girls’ games:

Vista 56, Helix 29--Vista turned the game into a rout by shutting out visiting Helix, 17-0, in the fourth quarter. Vista was led by a trio of sophomores. Center Chris Enger scored 18 points, 10 blocks and 13 rebounds to pace Vista. Dana Christofferson added 17 points and point guard Kelly Shotz scored 10 off the bench. Vista’s usual point guard, Gerri Richards, also plays on Vista’s soccer team, which had a match in the playoffs Saturday. Vista’s press finally took its toll. Vista improved to 25-2 with its only two losses coming to Point Loma. The Panthers next play Santana Wednesday at Mira Mesa High.

La Jolla 57, San Marcos 37--Point guard Colie Anderson scored 24 points and Michele Lolly added 12 to lead top-seeded La Jolla to the semifinals. La Jolla never trailed and took a 30-13 lead at the half. La Jolla plays Lincoln Wednesday at Serra.
