A vintage light plane made a forced landing Thursday in a dry creek bed near about 100 homes in Saugus, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.

The two-seat, single-engine 1946 Stinson landed near Bouquet Canyon Road about 7:30 p.m., passing near a church and about 50 yards from two tracts of about 50 homes each, fire Capt. David Flagg said.

The names of the male pilot, of Reseda, and a female passenger, of Chino, both in their mid-40s, were not released. The woman was bruised slightly but refused medical treatment, Flagg said.

The pilot told authorities that he owns the plane and that he decided to land when he realized he might not have enough fuel to complete his planned flight from Chino to Van Nuys, Flagg said.
