San Diego Roundup : Prep Track Marks in Jeopardy at Poway Meet

Last week, five meet records and one county record fell at the Mustang Relays high school track meet. This Saturday, at the Poway/Pepsi Invitational at San Diego State’s Choc Sportsman Track, more records are expected to fall.

A strong field of the county’s top track and field athletes will assemble for the meet, which begins at 9 a.m.

Distance runners Marc Davis of San Diego and Kira Jorgenson of Vista are expected to challenge the 1,500 meter times. Darla Vaughn of Mira Mesa and Michelle Outlaw of Lincoln are expected to challenge the hurdle records. And Ramona pole vaulter Pat Alduenda, who last week cleared 16-feet -inch to set a county record, is expected to challenge his own record.

A junior golf clinic will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bernardo Heights Country Club.

Touring LPGA golfers in San Diego for the Kyocera Inamori tournament will conduct the clinic in which clubs will not be used.

Athletes in Action will hold its second annual three-on-three tournament Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at Municipal Gym in Balboa Park.

The double-elimination tournament is open to players ranging from high school to post-college levels.

Finals in each of six divisions will be at 5 p.m. followed by dunk and free-throw contests.

The fifth annual San Diego County High School All-Star soccer match will be played Saturday at Ramona High School.

The game is sponsored by the San Diego County Interscholastic Soccer Coaches Assn., and the teams are made up of the best seniors in the county.

The girls’ match is at 5:30 p.m. and the boys’ match follows at 7:30. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students.
