College Softball : Clark Tosses One-Hitter as Titans Sweep Pacific

Cal State Fullerton had 10 hits in the first game and Connie Clark threw a one-hitter in the second as the No. 1-ranked Titans swept a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. doubleheader from University of the Pacific Saturday at the Titan Softball Complex.

The Titans (9-0, 32-2) won the first game, 5-1. Chenita Rogers and Carey Hess had three hits each, and Janis Okerland (8-1) pitched a two-hitter.

In the second game, Clark gave up only a first-inning single in beating Pacific, 5-0. Fullerton scored two runs in both the first and second innings, led by RBI singles from Cathi Hall and Valerie Douglas. Pacific fell to 6-8 and 10-23.

In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. softball:

Cal State Northridge 1-3, Chapman 0-0--The Matadors (11-1, 25-5), Division II’s No. 1-ranked team, scored a run on three singles and a walk in the bottom of the seventh to win the first game. They held Chapman to two hits in the second game for the sweep at Northridge.

Regina Marchionni and Gail Russell had the second-game hits for Chapman (2-12, 10-23-1).
