Tiffany Boyd lost a perfect game because of a dropped third strike but threw a no-hitter and had 21 strikeouts in Woodbridge High School’s 8-0 victory over Laguna Beach Wednesday in a Pacific Coast League softball game at Woodbridge.
The only non-strikeout was a bunt attempt in the third inning.
Boyd struck out four batters in the second inning after a dropped third strike allowed a batter to reach base.
Boyd also was 2 for 4 with three RBIs.
In another Pacific Coast League softball game:
Trabuco Hills 9, Costa Mesa 4--Kim Rhoads hit a grand slam and had seven RBIs to lead Trabuco Hills at Costa Mesa.
