Prep All-Star Basketball Teams Play Tonight

The fourth annual Southern California all-star basketball games, matching many of the best players in the City and Southern sections, will be played tonight at Cal State Dominguez Hills. The girls’ game will start at 6:30, the boys’ at 8:30.

Two uncommitted college prospects, Kevin Franklin of Woodland Hills Taft and Gary Gray of Granada Hills, will play for the City boys’ team, as will J.D. Green of Fairfax, Von Shuler of Dorsey, Ennerea Maxwell of Van Nuys Birmingham and Sean Davis of Woodland Hills El Camino Real, among others.

The Southern Section team will be led by Tank Collins of Pomona, David Whitmore of Playa del Rey St. Bernard, Jason Matthews of Santa Monica St. Monica, Ronnie Coleman of Compton Dominguez, Kevin Williams of L.A. Verbum Dei, Sean Rooks of Fontana and Danny Price of Santa Monica.

In the girls’ game, Diane DeCree of Granada Hills Kennedy, Dana Jones of Reseda, Dollie Lucero of L.A. Marshall, Ruth Aguilar of L.A. Lincoln and Dianne Williams of Chatsworth are the top players for the City. Carrie Egan of Brea Olinda, Tia Thomas of Inglewood Morningside and Mandy Hannah of Compton lead the Southern Section.

Elsewhere, Scott Yates of Inglewood will pay in the fourth annual Joint Effort all-star games tonight and Saturday.
