David Stanley, former SMU football player, said he has no regrets about reporting improprieties that helped bring a two-year suspension of the school’s football program, the Houston Post reported.

“I feel bad for the players,” he said. “It’s a tragedy they have to suffer for the few people who did wrong. Some of them might feel like I betrayed their school, but . . . I did what I had to do.”

Stanley, 22, would not reveal where he lives because of fear of retaliation. He blames his coaches and SMU athletic officials for his failure to become a starter for the Mustangs.
