Giants Will Limit Sale of Beer at Candlestick Park
Troubled by an increase in drunken rowdiness by fans at Candlestick Park, the San Francisco Giants issued tough security measures Tuesday in an attempt to curb fist fights, public drunkenness and profanity in the stands.
Foot patrols in the parking lots will be beefed up before each game and all people entering the stadium will be subject to search. The club also will discontinue the sale of 24-ounce, $3 beers. Only 14-ounce, $2 beers will be sold, with a limit of two per customer.
The action was precipitated by a brawl at the end of a game two weeks ago between the Giants and Dodgers. A number of fans joined the melee and were arrested.
