COLLEGE PARK, Md. —
Lewis Perkins, athletic director at Wichita State who is credited with cleaning up that school’s sports programs, was today named athletic director for the University of Maryland. Perkins, 42, succeeds Dick Dull, who resigned last fall after the cocaine-induced death of basketball star Len Bias in June and revelations about poor academic performances among members of the men’s basketball team.
