Ron Veres, who replaced Mark Jacobs as the Oak Park High baseball coach this year, has replaced Jacobs again. Veres has been named to succeed Jacobs as the Oak Park football coach.

In the past year Jacobs, 41, has resigned as the school’s baseball and football coach and athletic director, saying he wants to spend more time with his family. Jacobs will assist Veres next season, serving as offensive line coach. In three years with the football team, Jacobs’ record was 5-24-1, including an 0-9-1 record last year.

The school has not named a new athletic director.

Veres, 45, began his football coaching career in 1967 at Aviation High in Manhattan Beach. After 12 seasons at Aviation and two as an assistant at Hartnell junior college in Salinas, Veres became the head coach at Simi Valley High in 1980. He resigned four seasons later and served as an assistant at Cal State Northridge for two years before joining Jacobs’ staff last fall.
