The San Diego Nomads will play the San Jose Earthquakes for the Western Soccer Alliance championship Sunday night at 7:30 at Southwestern College.

San Jose defeated F.C. Seattle Storm, 3-0, last Sunday to advance to meet the Nomads, who, as regular-season champions, received a bye into the final match.

The Nomads, who finished fifth in the six-team WSA a year ago, have defeated the Earthquakes in both regular-season meetings. The Nomads won, 2-1, in overtime at San Jose, and 1-0 on penalty kicks in San Diego.

Two players from the San Diego Nomads have been selected by the United States Soccer Federation to a pool of 20 players who will represent the USA in the sixth FIFA World Youth Championship for males under 20 years old.

Defender Marcelo Balboa, of Cerritos, the Nomads’ top scorer, and forward Lucas Martin, of La Jolla, have been named to the team, which will compete against 15 other nations in Chile, from Oct. 10 to 25.

The USA Youth World Cup Team will play an exhibition match against the Mexican Collegiate champion tonight at 7:30 at San Diego State University’s Aztec Bowl.
