County Players to Participate in All-Star Shootout

Six teams composed of Orange County high school basketball players, including members from the Mater Dei, Capistrano Valley and Ocean View high school teams, will be among the 18 teams competing in the Basketball Congress International’s Great Western Shootout, beginning today at 10:30 and running through Thursday at Ocean View High School.
The tournament, which opens with eight first-round games today and one Tuesday, has also attracted all-star teams from Bakersfield, New York City, Oakland, Phoenix, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Vancouver, Arizona, Colorado, New Jersey and Northern California.
Quarterfinal games are scheduled for Tuesday, semifinals Wednesday and the championship Thursday at 9 p.m.. Tickets are $3 per day for adults, $1 for students.
