Monterey Plane Crash Kills 2
A small plane attempting to land in the fog crashed into Monterey Bay today, killing two people, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman said.
The plane was attempting to make an instrument landing when the pilot lost touch with the tower about a mile and a half away just before the crash at 10:10 a.m., according to Lt. Cmdr. Philip Sanders. The victims were identified only as a man and a woman, whose bodies were found in the water. Sanders said the Coast Guard believes two other people may have been on board and crews are searching the water for additional victims.
