Christen Wallner, 18, of Westlake Village won a bronze medal at the American Continental Young Riders Championships in South Hamilton, Mass., this week.

Three athletes from the Valley area were medalists in the International Summer Special Olympic Games at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., this month.

Kristine Johnson of Woodland Hills won a gold medal in gymnastics. Sherwin Barrack of Mission Hills won two gold medals in bowling. Virginia Lichnovsky of Burbank won a bronze in dressage, an equestrian event.

Eric Marquez, playing for Reseda High, was selected the most valuable player of an alumni basketball tournament won by Crespi this week at San Fernando High. Crespi defeated Reseda in overtime in the championship game, 94-91.

Crespi’s Tom Morley and Pat Knight were selected to the all-tournament first team along with Reseda’s Tom Cassidy, Monroe’s Steve Fleming and Larry Murphy of El Camino Real.

Former L.A. Raider defensive back Odis McKinney, who played for Reseda, was voted best defensive player.

Other second-team selections were Jason Turner (Crespi), Steve Yoest (Crespi), Chuck McCaulley (Reseda) and Pat Gibbs (Monroe).

Tisha Walker, 13, of Thousand Oaks won the Junior Ladies Division of the Arctic Blade Invitational Ice Skating Championships in Paramount, Calif.

Jennifer Itoh of Burbank was second.

John Page has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Cal Lutheran.

Page (6-7, 210 pounds), has attended Ventura and Moorpark colleges and Fort Lewis College in Colorado.
