Orange County Community College Roundup : Cypress Sets School Record in 11-0 Soccer Win

Cypress College scored a single-game school-record 11 goals against Victor Valley--which played most of the match a man short because of injury--as the Chargers won, 11-0, Friday in men’s Orange Empire Conference soccer action at Cypress.

Adrian Rosescu scored four times and Steve Buzzatta added three goals to give him a team-high 11 this season. Eric Schwandt scored twice and Momodu Karbo and Bill Montgomery got a goal each for Cypress (1-0-2, 2-3-2). Diego Reyes had five saves for the Chargers.

In other Orange Empire soccer:

Orange Coast 3. L.A. Harbor 0--Phil Reget, Chris Peterson and Hamid Sedehi scored first-half goals for OCC at home. Steve Muzzy had seven saves for OCC (1-1-1, 3-3-2).

In women’s South Coast Conference soccer:

Golden West 2, Palomar 1--Sophomore Shannon Augustine scored twice to lead Golden West (3-2, 4-2) at Palomar.

In nonconference wrestling:

Golden West 38, L.A. Pierce 6--Paul Herrera, the 1986 California state champion at 161 pounds, pinned Eli Dorsey in 1 minute 19 seconds to lead host Golden West. At 193, Rich Brenton of Golden West, the 1985 California state champion, took a 7-0 decision over Craig Williams. At 170, Chris Shaul of Golden West pinned Pete Atwater at 2:30.
