Playing without standout running back Robert Lee, Santa Ana High School still managed to record an easy 26-0 victory over Ocean View Friday in a nonleague game in Santa Ana Stadium.

Lee, who has a slightly sprained ankle, watched from the sidelines as nine Santa Ana ballcarriers combined for 246 yards. Lee is expected to return for the Saints’ Century League opener next week against Canyon.

Donovan Mauga, Estrus Crayton and Garner Hicks led the rushing attack: Mauga gained 71 yards in 4 carries; Crayton had 68 yards in 11 carries; and Hicks contributed 66 yards in 10 carries. During the first half, Ocean View (2-3) was held to four yards net and failed to get a first down.

The Seahawks were more effective in the second half and finished the game with 92 yards rushing. The Saints (4-1) completed only 1 pass for 18 yards and Ocean View’s only completion lost a yard.

Crayton gave Santa Ana a 7-0 lead on a seven-yard run midway through the first period. A 31-yard field goal by Enio Blanco made it 10-0 late in the opening quarter. Mauga increased Santa Ana’s lead to 16-0 on a 49-yard run in the second period.

Blanco added a 22-yard field goal late in the first half.

The only score in the second half came when Damon Bland blocked a punt which was returned 40 yards for a touchdown by George Tuioti.
