Orange County College Roundup : Pepperdine Upsets UCI in Water Polo

Rafael Gandarillas scored three goals, including the game-winner with 1:38 remaining, to lead Pepperdine to a 7-6 upset of UC Irvine Sunday in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. water polo match at Malibu.

The Anteaters, ranked fourth in the nation, never led the eighth-ranked Waves. Irvine missed on an extra-man opportunity with 11 seconds remaining, and was 0 for 8 on extra-man opportunities for the game.

Greg Wilson and Mike Halphide each scored two goals for Irvine (10-5, 5-1). Pepperdine is 16-10 and 5-1.

UC Santa Barbara 2, Irvine 0--Junior goalkeeper Victor Flores had 11 saves for the Anteaters (5-10, 2-5) at Irvine. Geoffrey Yantz and William Gould scored for 10th-ranked Santa Barbara (10-5-2, 4-2-1).

UNLV 4, Cal State Fullerton 3 (OT)--After a 1-1 tie in regulation, the 17th-ranked Rebels (11-3-0, 6-0) scored three goals in overtime for the win at Las Vegas. Scott Pearson and Antony Jacobs scored for the Titans (9-7, 3-4).
