Reseda 52, Grant 10--Quarterback Coley Kyman scored on a 1-yard sneak and threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to David Wilson as the Regents opened a 14-0 lead and were never threatened in the Pac-8 League game at Grant. Reseda’s offense accounted for four touchdowns, the defense had two touchdowns and caused seven turnovers, and the special teams scored one touchdown. Two of the most exciting plays of the game involved wide receiver Sam Edwards, who completed a 54-yard scoring play to David Wilson on a double-reverse option pass with 14 seconds left in the first half, and ran back a punt 95 yards for a touchdown midway through the third quarter. Reseda, The Times’ No. 6-ranked team, is now 5-0 in league and 6-0 overall. Grant is 3-2, 4-3.

Canyon Country Canyon 21, Antelope Valley 14--Sophomore running back Chris Peery set two school records and tied another in leading the Cowboys to a Golden League victory before 5,000 fans at Canyon. Peery set school single-game records with 35 carries and 235 yards, and tied the mark for touchdowns scored at 3, including a 59-yard scamper in the first half. In eight games, Peery has rushed for 1,131 yards in 149 carries and scored 14 touchdowns. The Cowboys (4-0, 7-2) built a 21-0 lead and limited Antelope Valley (2-2, 6-3) to 23 yards rushing. Antelope Valley quarterback Ron Whipple completed 14 of 24 attempts for 151 yards and 1 touchdown. This year he has completed 84 of 153 pases for 1,460 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Montebello 14, Bell Gardens 10--In a defensive struggle, running back Adan Avina ran four yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to lift Montebello to a Whitmont League victory at Bell Gardens. The Lancers led at the half, 10-7, on a 53-yard touchdown pass play from George Fimbres to Santos Barriantos and Gus Garcia’s 47-yard field goal. But they lost a fumble at their 30 early in the third quarter, setting up Avina’s winning touchdown. For Montebello, which scored first on John Macia’s 12-yard run in the second quarter, Avina had 64 yards in 16 carries and Joe Munoz 63 yards in 11. Bell Gardens outgained Montebello, 254-199. Montebello, ranked No. 2 in the Eastern Conference, is 6-0 in league and 9-0 overall. Bell Gardens, ranked No. 3 in the conference, is 5-1, 7-2.

Cajon 38, Hesperia 14--Michael Beauregard ran for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns in 28 carries to lead the Cowboys over the Scorpions in a San Andreas League game at Cajon. Beauregard scored on runs of 7 and 35 yards as Cajon took a 24-7 halftime lead. Beauregard added an 11-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to make it 38-14. In nine games, Beauregard has rushed for 1,304 yards and 17 touchdowns. Ray Washington added 82 yards in 10 carries, including touchdown runs of 10 and 28 yards. Cajon, the No. 2-ranked team in the Southeastern Conference, amassed 387 rushing yards. Cajon is 6-1 in league and 8-1 overall. Hesperia is 1-5, 3-6.

Baldwin Park 35, Sierra Vista 13--Kirk Gair threw touchdown passes of 14 yards to Bob Levesque, 16 yards to Javier Jimenez and 36 yards to Bruno Haro as Baldwin Park built a 21-0 halftime lead in a Montview League game at Sierra Vista. In the third quarter, Manuel Jacobo’s 19-yard touchdown run made it 28-0. Sierra Vista finally scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass, but Rico Cornejo returned the ensuing kickoff 91 yards to give Baldwin Park a 35-6 lead. Baldwin Park, the No. 3-ranked team in the Southeastern Conference, is 4-0 in league and 8-1 overall. Sierra Vista is 0-4, 0-9.

Thousand Oaks 27, Channel Islands 6--After leading 3-0 at halftime, Thousand Oaks scored 24 second-half points, including Jay Harrah 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the third quarter. Channel Islands closed the margin to 10-6 midway through the third quarter on John Johnson’s 83-yard touchdown run. Thousand Oaks then got a 29-yard field goal from Sean Cheevers and a 71-yard touchdown run from Steve Sisco to go ahead 20-6. The win by Thousand Oaks, combined with Westlake’s 10-0 loss to Camarillo, left Thousand Oaks, Channel Islands and Westlake tied for the Montview League lead at 4-1. Thousand Oaks, ranked No. 3 in the Coastal Conference, is 8-1 overall; Channel Islands, ranked No. 6, is 7-2. Westlake, ranked No. 8, is 6-3.

Cerritos 28, Lynwood 11--The Dons held Lynwood to 109 yards in total offense and took the ball away six times in a San Gabriel League game at Gahr High. Darrell Thompson scored on a 31-yard run in the first quarter, D.J. Barker kicked two field goals and defensive end Greg Sakoda picked off a deflected ball in the Lynwood end zone for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for Cerritos. Lynwood, ranked No. 5 in the Southern Conference, is 4-1 in league and 7-2 overall. Cerritos is 2-3, 5-4.

Los Altos 23, HH Wilson 6--For the fifth consecutive game, the Conquerors held their opponents to less than 50 yards rushing en route to clinching the Sierra League championship before 6,000 fans at Los Altos. The victory clinched a playoff berth for the 16th consecutive year for the Conquerors (4-0, 8-1) and gave them a 14-3-1 series edge over the Wildcats (2-2, 6-3).
