Village Christian 8, L. A. Baptist 7--Village Christian’s Joe Everett ran for the two-point conversion after Craig Hudspeth scored from a yard out in the fourth quarter to give Village Christian the Alpha League victory at Monroe High.
Village Christian defensive back Greg Lloyd’s fumble recovery on the L. A. Baptist four-yard line with 6:34 left set up the game-winning touchdown. Hudspeth scored three plays later to move Village Christian to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in league play.
L. A. Baptist (4-4, 1-3) scored with 4:13 left in the first half when Michael Guthrie went over from the one. Mike Vanderhorst kicked the extra point to put the Knights ahead, 7-0.
