Sea View League : Therien Leads Saddleback Past Estancia, 20-0

Quarterback Sean Therien threw two touchdown passes and Carlos Zavala kicked two long field goals to lead Saddleback High School to a 20-0 victory over Estancia and a berth in the Central Conference playoffs Friday night in Santa Ana Stadium.

The victory, combined with Newport Harbor’s loss to Corona del Mar, leaves the Roadrunners (5-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in league) tied for second place in the Sea View League with Tustin. Estancia finishes at 2-8 and 0-5.

Therien completed 9 of 14 passes for 161 yards. He connected with wide receiver Frank Larriva on a 68-yard touchdown pass with 8:21 left in the third quarter. Later in the quarter, he hit wide receiver Mike Arroyos with a seven-yard scoring pass.

Zavala gave Saddleback a 3-0 lead in the first quarter with a 42-yard field goal and made it 6-0 on the final play of the half with a kick from 44 yards out.
