William and Mary 20, Richmond 7--John Brosnahan connected on a 68-yard touchdown pass play to Harry Mehre and scored on a 53-yard run at Williamsburg, Va., to lift William & Mary to an upset over playoff-bound Richmond.
Brosnahan completed 12 of 18 passes for 149 yards and finished with 71 yards in 7 carries.
The Indians, who finished 5-6, also scored on field goals of 27 and 28 yards by Steve Christie to knock off the Yankee Conference champions.
As champions of the Yankee Conference, the Spiders (7-4) have an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.
