Area Roundup : Fullerton Women Face Dayton
The Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball team will open play in the University of Illinois tournament against Dayton (0-1) at 4 p.m. PST today.
Illinois (1-0) will play Ball State (1-1) at 6 p.m. PST in the other first-round game, with the winners meeting Saturday at 2 p.m. PST for the championship. The third-place game will be at noon PST.
Fullerton is 1-1, having beaten the University of San Francisco, 79-54, in the first round of the Fullerton tournament last Friday before losing to Cal Poly Pomona, 86-85, in the final Saturday.
The 13th Billy Casper Golf Invitational will be held Monday at Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park, starting at 8:45 a.m.
Casper, along with Olympic gymnast Peter Vidmar and Cleveland Indian Cory Snyder, will be on hand.
The cost of the tournament is $150, which includes cart, lunch, dinner and use of the club facilities. All money raised will go to benefit Brigham Young University’s athletic department and the Mormon church missionary fund.

The St. Angela Merici School of Brea is sponsoring a run-bike-run biathlon Sunday at Anaheim Stadium, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The event includes a 5-mile run around the stadium parking lot, a 25-mile bike ride on the Santa Ana River trail, then another 5-mile run around the stadium parking lot.
Cost for the race, which is limited to 1,000 entries, is $32 per individual and $50 for a two-person relay team. All entries will receive a T-shirt.

The second Orange County high school all-state water polo game will be played at Tustin High School Saturday at 1 p.m. . . . Tickets for the PONY Bowl doubleheader can be purchased at Orange Coast College Saturday starting at noon, when the gates open. Saddleback (8-2) plays Cerritos (6-3-1) at 1 p.m., and El Camino (10-0) plays Taft (9-0) at 7 p.m. Doubleheader tickets are $8, and single-game tickets are $5.
