Hust Resigns as Canyon Football Coach

Rod Hust, the Canyon High School football coach for the past five seasons, announced his resignation on Thursday for personal reasons.
The Comanches were 2-7-1 under Hust this season and finished last in the Century League with an 0-4-1 record.
“I want to spend more time with my family,” Hust said. “I have a son who will be in high school in two years and a 2-year-old daughter, so I thought the time was right to step down.”
Hust joined Canyon’s coaching staff as offensive coordinator in 1978 and replaced Mike Zeller as head coach in 1983. Canyon qualified for the Southern Conference playoffs in two of Hust’s five seasons, completing its best season in 1983 with a 7-5 record.
Hust will remain at Canyon as a physical education and history instructor. No successor has been named.
