Boys’ Basketball Roundup : Last-Second Basket Lifts Tustin

Senior Leo Parker scored a basket with one second left to lift Tustin High School to a 63-61 victory over San Francisco Lincoln Tuesday in the first round of the La Quinta High School boys’ basketball tournament.

Sean London took an inbounds pass and tossed it up to Parker, who is 6-foot 6-inches tall, in the center of the key, and Parker made the shot. Parker finished with 29 points.

Brad Cantell scored 16 points and Lunyon Maxwell 10 for Tustin, which plays Katella at 8 p.m. Thursday in one semifinal.

James Renfro scored 22 for Lincoln.

In other La Quinta Tournament games:

Katella 67, La Quinta JV 39--Jerry Babe scored 28 and teammates Ian Donnelly and Darral McGinnis 12 each for Katella.

In the Santa Ana Tournament:

Santa Ana 64, Kennedy JV 34--Senior guard Scootie Lynwood scored 24 points and had 6 assists and teammate Bobby Joyce scored 14 points and had 15 rebounds for Santa Ana (3-0).

Santa Ana plays Trabuco Hills in one semifinal at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Mission Viejo 79, Bolsa Grande 52--Tom Tkach scored 26 points to lead Mission Viejo in the opening round. Joe Small scored 27 for Bolsa Grande.

In the Fountain Valley Tournament:

Edison 65, Servite 63--Mike Hunter scored 20 points to lead Edison in the first-round game. Alvin Loftis scored 13 points and Chip Hanlon 12 for Edison plays Millikan in one semifinal Thursday at 6 p.m.

Brian Kennedy scored 23 for Servite.

Millikan 93, Cypress 54--Millikan gained a 22-3 first quarter lead in the first-round game. Cypress (0-4) got 11 points from Bond Weaver. Cypress will play Servite in a consolation-round game at 4:30 today.

In nonleague games:

Marina 55, Irvine 50--Steve Guild scored a game-high 24 points for Marina, which had a 19-7 first quarter lead at Irvine.

David Yamate had 16 points, including four 3-point plays for the Vikings (3-0). David Ballantyne led the Vaqueros (2-2) with 11 points. The Vaqueros trailed, 41-25, at the end of the third quarter, but made it close by outscoring Marina, 25-14, in the fourth quarter.

Trabuco Hills 87, Los Amigos 62--Trabuco Hills pulled away from visiting Los Amigos with a 31-point second quarter, taking a 50-30 halftime lead. John Barnes, a senior forward, had 32 points and guard Teddy Colburn added 19 for Trabuco Hills (5-0). Los Amigos (0-2) was led by John Jenkins’ 25 points.

Claremont 62, Abundant Life 58--Tom Patraw scored 14 points including 2 three-pointer for Claremont, which won at home.

Mark Sager had 12 points and 11 rebounds and teammate Brian Whitman had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Claremont (1-2).

Tom Moor and Gabe Luebano had 20 each for Abundant Life (0-3).

Liberty Christian 66, Pacific Shores 46--Host Liberty Christian was led by Rick Hills, a senior center who scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds.
