Boys’ Roundup : Lamoureux’s 42 Points Lead Los Alamitos, 82-42

Dre Lamoureux scored a school-record 42 points to lead Los Alamitos High School to an 82-42 victory over Kaimaki in the opening round of the Mid-Pacific boys’ basketball tournament at Honolulu.

Lamoureux was 15 of 25 from the floor and 12 of 12 from the free-throw line and also had 22 rebounds. He broke the previous record of 40 set by Dana Bedard in 1978. Los Alamitos is 4-4 and Kaimaki is 3-3.

In the San Dieguito Tournament:

El Camino 96, San Clemente 59--El Camino outscored San Clemente, 35-19, in the first quarter on its way to the rout at San Dieguito. Lee Cobb led El Camino (4-0) with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, and Scott Oatsvall added 22 points and 12 rebounds. El Camino led, 59-33, at halftime and then outscored San Clemente, 13-7, in the third quarter. Mike Peters led San Clemente with 21 points.

Escondido 60, Newport Harbor 54 (OT)--Paul Baldwin hit a three-point shot and Tim Bone made two free throws as Escondido took a 54-49 lead to begin the overtime period at San Dieguito. Mike Harden of Newport Harbor (5-2) tied the game in regulation at 49-49 with 17 seconds remaining on a jumper inside the key. Baldwin had 19 points and Bone added 13 for Escondido (3-1). Harden had 20 points for Newport Harbor.

In the Bosco Tech Tournament:

Bosco Tech 68, Santa Ana Valley 51--Carlos Carrillo scored 27 points to lead the Tigers in a quarterfinal game. Santa Ana Valley (4-6) trailed, 47-44, entering the fourth quarter, but was outscored, 21-7. Mario Lacy scored 19 points and Joseph Bently 11 for the Falcons.

In the Arroyo Tournament:

Fountain Valley 61, San Luis Obispo 52--Kevin Anderson scored 22 points to lead the Barons in a semifinal game.

Atascadero 57, Anaheim 41--The Colonists were outscored, 18-7, in the second quarter and were eliminated. Marcus Mitchell led Anaheim with 29 points.

In the Academy League:

Liberty Christian 51, Avalon 50--Rick Hills scored 19 points to lead Liberty Christian (6-1, 2-0).

In nonleague:

Magnolia 66, Mayfair 60 (OT)--Mike Goff had 37 points and 28 rebounds to lead the Sentinels (4-3). Rich McKee’s layup tied the score at 54-54 with three seconds left in regulation. Goff scored seven points in the overtime period.
