Grossmont 64, Helix 62 (3OT)--Lance Williams scored 20 points, including a baseline jumper with two seconds remaining in the third overtime period, to give host Grossmont the victory. The game was tied, 50-50, at the end of regulation play after Helix rallied from a 39-28 halftime deficit. In the third overtime, Williams and Jason Foggiano each hit three-pointers as Grossmont came from behind to tie the game at 62. After a Helix turnover, Williams hit his game-winning shot. Tom Aland had 12 points for Grossmont (6-1, 3-1). Helix fell to 5-2, 2-2.

Mount Miguel 87, El Cajon Valley 46--Jerome Tonsing, Robert Griffith, Anthony Rivera and Frank Davis scored 12 points apiece to lead Mount Miguel (3-4, 2-2). Mount Miguel led at the half, 49-26.

METRO CONFERENCE

Hilltop 56, Sweetwater 55--Mark Dirksen scored 31 points and Mike Marques made a free throw with 14 seconds remaining to give Hilltop the win over visiting Sweetwater. Hilltop (3-4, 2-0) led, 55-52, when Sweetwater’s Scott Catlin sank a three-pointer with 30 seconds left. After Marques’ free throw put Hilltop ahead, Sweetwater (3-8, 2-1) was unable to get off a clean shot. Carlos Campbell led Sweetwater with 18 points and Catlin had 14. Jon Moore added 10 points for Hilltop.

El Camino 96, San Clemente 59--El Camino outscored San Clemente 35-19 in the first quarter on way to the rout. Lee Cobb led El Camino (4-0) with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and Scott Oatsvall added 22 points and 12 rebounds. El Camino led 59-33 at the half and then outscored San Clemente 13-7 in the third quarter. Mike Peters led San Clemente with 21 points.

Escondido 60, Newport Harbor 54 (OT)-- Paul Baldwin hit a three-point shot and Tim Bone made two free throws as Escondido took a 54-49 lead at the beginning of overtime and went on for the victory. Mike Harden of Newport Harbor (5-2) tied the game in regulation on a jumper inside the key with 17 seconds remaining. Newport Harbor, however, could not overcome Escondido’s fast start in overtime. Baldwin had 19 points and Bone added 13 for Escondido (3-1). Harden had 20 points for Newport Harbor.

Yuma 58, San Marcos 50--Yuma outscored San Marcos 15-9 in the third quarter to take a 45-35 lead and held on for the win. George Mojica, Sean Sweitzer and Matt Barrick scored 12 points apiece to lead San Marcos (0-3). Paul Christian led Yuma (5-0) with 18 points.

Ramona 45, San Dieguito 41--Tony Newman scored 16 points and Nate Hollingsworth added 14 to lead Ramona (4-4). Jack Minger led San Dieguito (4-4) with 19 points. Ramona led 19-16 at the half.

(At Torrey Pines)

Vista def. Las Vegas Western, forfeit--Las Vegas Western failed to make the 6:30 p.m. start and forfeited its game against Vista. “We came out of the locker room at 6:15 and there’s nobody there,” Vista Coach Randy Wiens said. “We had no idea if or when they would arrive.” At 6:30, the referees decided to allow Western 10 more minutes before declaring a forfeit. Las Vegas finally arrived around 7 p.m., but the Vista players were already in street clothes.

Torrey Pines 87, San Pasqual 54--Kevin Flanagan scored 23 points and had 14 rebounds to lead Torrey Pines (8-0) past visiting San Pasqual. Torrey Pines put the game away in the first quarter, taking a 35-8 lead. Courtie Miller added 17 points and 12 rebounds for Torrey Pines, which will meet El Centro in a quarterfinal game tonight at 7:45 at Torrey Pines. Andy Loveland led San Pasqual (4-2) with 16 points.

El Centro 55, Oceanside 53--Ralph Bellamy hit a 10-foot jumper with three seconds left to give El Centro the victory over the defending 2-A champion Pirates. Bellamy had a game-high 22 points. Oceanside was led by Alvin McGee, who scored 20.

Orange Glen 82, Hoover (Glendale) 75--Cree Morris scored 19 points and Brian Leander added 18 to lead Orange Glen, which will meet Vista in the quarterfinals tonight.

SAN DIMAS TOURNAMENT

Serra (Los Angeles) 47, Fallbrook 46--James Moses scored 22 points to lead Serra past Fallbrook (6-3) in the fifth-place game. Fallbrook led 36-29 after three quarters but couldn’t hang on. Mike West scored 20 points to lead Fallbrook and Todd Adamson added 15.

NONLEAGUE

Madison 79, St. Augustine 49--Robbie Robinson scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds for host Madison (4-1). Andre Mitchell, Bryant Morris and Jeff Alexander each had 12 points. Mitchell and Alexander also had 11 rebounds apiece.

Mira Mesa 74, University City 56--Dave Lee scored 27 points and Tal Miller had 19 to lead Mira Mesa at home. Mark Zeigler added 12 points for Mira Mesa (6-3), which was playing its 8th game in 11 days. Patrick Henry 77, Mission Bay 46--Terrence Hamilton scored 21 points as Patrick Henry broke open a close game after the first quarter. Patrick Henry (3-0) led 17-16 after the first period but then outscored Mission Bay 19-6 in the second quarter and 22-8 in the third. John Spence and Marc Ladley added 10 points apiece for Patrick Henry. Steve Grebing scored 13 for Mission Bay (3-5).
