San Fernando clobbered Canoga Park, 94-55, in a Northwest Valley League game Friday night to wrap up its first league championship since 1981.

The win at San Fernando was the Tigers’ 10th in a row and gave San Fernando a three-game lead over Granada Hills and Birmingham.

Guards Tory Stephens and Joe Mauldin, who have been powering the Tigers all season, once again registered impressive numbers. Stephens led all players with 31 points and 6 steals. Mauldin added 28 points and forward Duane Heller had 10.

Notre Dame 64, Bosco Tech 62--Paul Nelson made two free throws with 30 seconds left to give the Knights a 64-61 lead in the Del Rey League game at Bosco Tech. Bosco Tech (10-12, 5-5 in league play) narrowed the deficit to two points on a free throw, but Brad Jones preserved the Knights’ win by blocking Bosco Tech’s last-second shot.

Kennedy Hicks led Notre Dame (13-8, 9-2 in league play) with 22 points on 10 of 16 shooting. Teammate Dave Fonseca added 18 points and 9 assists. Fonseca made 6 of 7 free throws, including 4 of 4 in the final period.

Notre Dame moved into a first-place tie with Loyola.

Thousand Oaks 70, Westlake 69 (2 OT)--Westlake’s Kevin Logan missed the second of two free throws with one second left in the second overtime to allow Thousand Oaks to hang on to a Marmonte League victory at home.

Thousand Oaks needed every one of guard Kevin Martin’s 36 points to get the win. Martin, a senior, has scored 400 points, becoming only the second player in Thousand Oaks history to score that many points in a season, according to Coach Ed Chevalier.

“He just had a great game,” Chevalier said. “A great game.”

Martin’s 36-point total was three off his season high of 39, scored against Gahr High. It was Martin’s three-point shot that sent the game into its second overtime.

Hart 95, Burroughs 89--Jim Harper scored 16 points, including the jumper that sent the game into overtime for Hart, to lead the Indians to a double overtime Foothill League win at Burroughs. Brian Allen had a game-high 22 points for Hart (13-7, 4-4 in league play), and Curt Marzinzik added 16 points.
