Rosi-Curry Title Bout Scheduled for April
World Boxing Council junior middleweight champion Gianfranco Rosi of Italy will meet American Donald Curry for the title on April 15, Italian matchmaker Roberto Sabbatini announced Monday.
The 12-round bout will be held in an undecided Italian site.
Rosi, who won the crown from Mexican Lupe Aquino last October, originally was scheduled to fight No.1 WBC challenger John Mugabi by the end of March.
Sabbatini reported that WBC officials agreed to give an earlier chance to Curry, a former world welterweight champion from Fort Worth, Texas.
Rosi’s handlers also said that the world champion is thinking of a voluntary title defense against Spanish-born West German challenger Jose Varela.
