Frank Says He’ll Attend Ohio State

Quarterback Jason Frank of Servite High School, who had only one Division I scholarship offer two weeks ago, made an oral commitment Monday to attend Ohio State in the fall.

Frank, 6-feet 4-inches and 220 pounds, turned down an offer to the University of Miami and said he will sign a national letter of intent Wednesday with the Buckeyes. Frank passed for 1,252 yards and 7 touchdowns in his senior season.

Two weeks ago, Frank’s only major college offer was from the University of Texas El Paso. He also had an offer from the University of Nevada Reno, a Division I-AA school.

Frank’s stepfather, Bill, sent highlight films of his son to several major colleges, and Frank made recruiting trips to Miami and Ohio State the past two weekends.

“It was difficult to turn down Miami, but Jason fell in love with the coaches and the facilities at Ohio State,” Bill Frank said. “Jason has dreamed of playing at Ohio State his entire life.

“There’s nothing definite about Jason’s status for next season. He will be given a chance to compete and then a decision will be made whether he will redshirt his freshman season.”
