What is the WCAC and why does it have the best college basketball teams in L.A.? In the backyard of Westwood, Pepperdine has been to the NCAA tournament four of the last six years, and this year, Loyola Marymount cracks the top 20 in the rankings.

Perhaps the answer lies in the unheralded magnificence of coaches Jim Harrick (whose Waves have won 65% of their games under him over 9 years) and Loyola’s Paul Westhead (who coached the Lakers to an NBA championship).
