Royal 7, Franklin 4--Starter Sean Sullivan struck out 10 and gave up 3 hits and 1 run in 5 innings in a semifinal game at Royal.

Royal scored 3 runs in each of the first 2 innings and added another in the third. Eric Spellman hit a 2-run single in the first.

Sullivan picked up the win and improved to 2-0. Royal boosted its record to 5-0.

Chaminade 18, Crossroads 9--The Eagles erupted for 7 runs in the fourth inning and 10 in the sixth to take a consolation-round game.

Doug Marconet’s grand slam highlighted the fourth as Chaminade took full advantage of 4 hits and 2 walks allowed by Crossroads, which had been ahead, 3-1, going into the inning.

Marconet went 2 for 4 with 4 runs batted in, and Mike LeCocq was 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and 4 RBIs.

Crossroads scored 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull within 8-7. But Chaminade (2-2) exploded in the sixth on 6 hits and 4 walks to put the game away.

“It was just one of those games when the wind was blowing, and there was a lot of hitting and not much pitching,” Chaminade Coach Steve Costley said.

Starting and winning pitcher Rob Rosemont went 3 innings, walking 6 and striking out 2. Greg Baumgartner gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits and 1 walk in 3 innings to earn his first save.

San Pedro 5, Camarillo 2--Camarillo (2-2) scored only twice after loading the bases with no outs in the fifth and lost in a championship-round game at San Pedro. Camarillo scored both of its runs on walks.

Rio Mesa 3, Beverly Hills 0--Robert Ayala pitched a 3-hit shutout in the consolation-round game. Ayala, a senior right-hander struck out 11 and walked 3 in improving his record to 2-0.

Ayala gave up a hit to the first batter he faced then struck out 5 of the next 7 before giving up fifth-inning singles to Michael Moore and Chad Cohen.

Chatsworth 9, Santa Monica 3--Vince Simili’s two-out bases-loaded double in the fifth inning broke open a 3-2 game in the consolation bracket. Teammate Kevin Chong followed Simili’s double with a two-run triple as the Chancellors exploded for six runs in the inning.

Pierre Amado (1-1) picked up the win, allowing 4 hits and striking out 8 in 5 innings.
