NBA Roundup : Drexler, Duckworth Spark Portland Win

Clyde Drexler scored 33 points and Kevin Duckworth had 30 points and 13 rebounds to help the Portland Trail Blazers defeat the Houston Rockets, 112-109, Thursday night at Houston.

Drexler’s 33 points was a career high for him against Houston as Portland snapped a five-game losing streak against the Rockets.

Jerome Kersey added 19 points and 11 rebounds for Portland, which has won seven straight games and tied the club record for consecutive road victories at five.

Akeem Olajuwon had 28 points and 20 rebounds for the Rockets.

The game was tied at 107-107 with 1:44 left, but a three-pointer by Drexler with 1:25 remaining gave Portland the lead for good.

Golden State 128, New Jersey 112--Chris Mullin scored 26 points and reserve guard Steve Harris had a career-high 24 as the Warriors beat the Nets at Oakland to snap an eight-game losing streak.

The defeat was only the second in six games for New Jersey since Willis Reed took over as coach.

Tim McCormick scored 26 points for the Nets.
