SportsScope : Bruin Coach Says USC Favored in Tennis Match

The Optimist Clubs charity high school basketball double-header, which pits Westside boys and girls all-star teams of seniors against counterparts from the South Bay, will be played Friday at Santa Monica College. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. and the boys at 8.

Members of the Westside boys team, the North, include Keith Neal and Jason Boze of Santa Monica High, Chris Cook of Venice, Jamie Dudley and Robert Biggs of Palisades, Steve Jeter and Sean Guthrie of Culver City, Eric Nelson and Damon Woodruff of St. Bernard, Mike Brown and Eric McCaskill of Westchester, Chris Plummer and Derek Patton of Beverly Hills and Mike Arnold and Joe Perkovich of Crossroads.

The North girls include Kathy McGriff, Yvonne Gutierrez and Constance Berry of Culver City, Trisha Stafford, Tammy Story and Tammy Sadler of Westchester, Kim Hallman of Beverly Hills, Carla Soto of St. Monica and Demetra Smith and Crystal Nettle of St. Bernard.

Coaches of the North boys are Chip Engelland, former Palisades High and Duke University star, and Dick Bassler, an assistant coach at Palisades. The North girls will be coached by Daryl Barnes and Ralph Ruiz, assistants at Westchester and Palisades.
