Eric Berg was 2 for 3 for Crespi, which fell to 4-8. Chad Nichols, a junior right-hander, started for the Celts and gave up all of St. Bernard’s runs before he was replaced by John Dempsey in the fifth.

Dempsey struck out the side with runners on first and second in the fifth, then retired the Vikings in order in the sixth.

St. Bernard took advantage of a prevailing wind to hit three home runs.

“We were the victim of a small field and we didn’t take advantage of it ourselves,” Crespi Coach Scott Muckey said.
