In other Palomar League games:

Fallbrook 5, San Dieguito 3--Jeff Lawrence (3-1) gained the victory with four scoreless innings of relief, and Jamie Willcox drove in two runs, one on a home run. Chris Dalton had a single and double for host Fallbrook (10-4, 2-0), which is tied with Poway atop the league. San Dieguito is 1-7 and 0-1.

Poway 13, Vista 3--John Uglow struck out nine and walked just one in pitching Poway past Vista (6-9-1, 0-2). Greg Sorrell went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs for Poway (8-5, 2-0). Paul Scolari and Bill Bertsch each added 2 RBIs.

GROSSMONT LEAGUE

Helix 8, Monte Vista 3--Danny Tiumalu was 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI for seventh-ranked Helix at home. Jason Ledford had a two-run triple for Helix (3-0, 10-2). Vern Mullis had a two-run homer to lead Monte Vista (1-3, 8-7). Damon Luban (4-1) got the victory. Helix kept pace with Grossmont for the league lead.

Santana 10, Granite Hills 3--Fifth-ranked Santana scored seven runs in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie and go on for the victory at home. Tim Barry went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs, including a two-run single in the sixth. John Barnhill was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Jason Cabral went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs. Jeff Waymire hit a three-run homer to tie the game for Granite Hills 2-2, 8-5) in the fourth. Eric Dietrich (2-0) got the win in relief.

Grossmont 9, El Capitan 2--Three errors, three walks and one batter hit by a pitch helped Grossmont to a five-run first. Mark Gapski relieved in the third inning to pick up the victory for Grossmont (8-5, 3-0). El Capitan is 6-7, 1-3.

Mt. Miguel 7, Valhalla 3--Pitcher Jeff Schmidtchen helped his cause with a two-run homer in the second inning as Mt. Miguel won its second straight game. Schmidtchen got the win for Mt. Miguel (3-9, 2-1). John Scurlock was 3 for 3 with a walk and scored once for Valhalla (5-10, 1-3). After a slow start, Mt. Miguel has won three of its past four games.

AVOCADO LEAGUE

Rancho Buena Vista 1, Oceanside 0--Robert McLeod (3-2) pitched a two-hit shutout as Rancho Buena Vista (5-8, 1-1) scored with two outs in the bottom of the seventh at home. Mike Luna of Oceanside (5-7, 0-2) was almost as effective, giving up an unearned run and four hits with six strikeouts. Lonny Maniscalco’s infield hit down the third-base line scored Donovan Crocker, who got on base on an error to open the inning. After reaching first on the error, Crocker stole second and went to third on a wild pitch to set up Maniscalco’s game-winning RBI.

San Pasqual 3, Escondido 1--Kevin Herde struck out seven and walked two to lead San Pasqual at Escondido. Herde (3-2) allowed four hits. Right fielder Alfredo Amador had a two-run single in the third for San Pasqual (6-6, 0-2). Escondido is 6-7, 0-2.

San Marcos 9, El Camino 5--San Marcos scored five runs in the fifth inning to overcome a 3-0 deficit and win at El Camino. Bill McElroy went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs, including a two-run homer in the fourth. Travis Beasley also had a two-run homer in the fourth for San Marcos (2-0, 6-3-2). Rick Sundstedt was 3 for 4 with an RBI to lead El Camino (1-10, 0-2).

CITY CENTRAL LEAGUE

San Diego 16, Lincoln 7--Sean Tucker was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs to lead San Diego at home. Tucker also got the victory for San Diego (9-5, 2-2). Junior Gusman went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Freddie Stokes had two hits and two stolen bases for Lincoln (1-3, 2-10).
