Granite Hills 5, Mt. Miguel 4 (9 innings)--With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Brian Giles doubled and Pete Stacey singled him in for Granite Hills (9-5, 3-2). Mt. Miguel is 3-10 and 2-2.

Monte Vista 11, El Cajon Valley 8--Eric Wilson’s two-run double keyed a seven-run third that rallied visiting Monte Vista (9-8, 2-3) from a 5-0 deficit. Monte Vista had six stolen bases.

CITY EASTERN LEAGUE

Madison 6, Point Loma 5 (9 innings)--Andy Williams singled in Albert Mendiola with two out for the game-winner, and junior left-hander Devin Fitzmaurice (8-0) allowed no runs and just one hit in seven innings of relief. No. 2 Madison is 16-1 and 5-0. Point Loma is 6-8-1 and 0-4.

Morse 6, Mira Mesa 0-- Javier Brown had four hits, including a three-run home run, and teammate Dave Grigsby also had four hits for host Morse (10-6, 4-1). No. 8 Mira Mesa, which is 11-4 and 3-2, hit into four double plays.

Patrick Henry 10, Serra 7 (10 innings)--Mike Jakel, Garrett Valles and Lance Lowery all had three hits and Mike Coleman and Cory Powell each added solo home runs for visiting Patrick Henry (7-7, 2-3).

CITY CENTRAL LEAGUE

Crawford 11, San Diego 10 (8 innings)--Winning pitcher A.J. Leighton (5-3) singled in Manny Gagliano with two outs for the game-winner and his third RBI. Crawford (9-6, 4-1) forced extra innings when Eric Turner doubled in Craig Ambrose. Turner had three hits and three RBIs. San Diego is 9-6 and 2-3.

St. Augustine 7, Hoover 3--The visiting Saints (5-8, 2-3) upended Hoover (11-6, 4-1) behind Mason Reber’s five-hitter and Mark Strawbridge’s two singles.

Lincoln 6, Christian 4--Monte Smith hit a solo homer and Daniel Hernandez (2-5) allowed only five hits in six innings for Lincoln (3-10, 2-3). Christian is 1-11 and 1-4.

CITY WESTERN LEAGUE University of San Diego High 14, Clairemont 2--Jeff Desiardink, Brent Whelan and Tony Moeder hit homers to power USDHS (8-7, 3-2). Matt Seisel (4-4) struck out nine. Clairemont is 5-10 and 2-3.

Kearny 5, University City 3--Eric Mercado tripled home two runs in the top of the eighth for visiting Kearny (5-9-1, 1-4).

METRO CONFERENCE

Sweetwater 4, Hilltop 1--Juan Price hit his sixth homer of the season--a two-run blow--and Benjamin Gil (3-2) overcame 10 hits for the victory. Hilltop is 1-9 and 0-3. Sweetwater is 7-9-1 and 1-2.

Castle Park 9, Montgomery 1--Cesar Gutierrez limited Montgomery to one hit and had two RBIs for No. 5 Castle Park (15-2-1, 3-0). David Husted was 3 for 4 for Castle Park, and Joaquin Sosa hit a three-run home run in the fourth. Montgomery is 8-4 and 2-1.

Bonita Vista 4, Mar Vista 3 (8 innings)--After Mar Vista stranded runners on second and third in the top of the eighth, host Bonita Vista’s Randy Abshier singled home David Tappan with the game-winner. Abshier (5-1) struck out 12 for Bonita Vista (11-5, 2-1) and had two RBIs. Bonita Vista’s Teddy Ehrhardt stole the 71st base of his career, moving him into second place on the all-time San Diego Section list.

Chula Vista 10, Marian 5--Jay Rodriguez hit two solo homer runs, and teammate Carlos Pedroza had a three-run and a two-run homer for visiting Chula Vista (6-9, 3-0). Eric Slinkard also had a homer for Chula Vista. Marian is 3-10-1 and 1-2.

GOLF

University of San Diego High senior Phil Mickelson set a school record by shooting a 28 for nine holes on the par-36 Balboa Park Golf Course in a 184-195 victory over St. Augustine.

Mickelson used just 11 putts and had two eagles.

The previous school record of 30 was set by Mike Wydra.
