Derrick Fenner, former North Carolina running back, was placed on three years’ probation for cocaine possession, ending a year of legal battles.

Fenner, 21, could have faced a maximum four-year jail sentence and a $20,000 fine. In addition to probation, Fenner was fined $1,000.

His college career was brought to a halt, however, when university officials announced that the school would not allow Fenner to play for the Tar Heels while on probation on the drug charges.
