Chapman Player Reaches Final in Division II Tennis
Top-seeded Miles Walker of Chapman College defeated Hampton’s Yakubyu Suleiman, 7-5, 7-6, in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II individual tennis championships at Sonoma State University Saturday.
Down by 6-3 in the second-set tiebreaker, Walker won five consecutive points to become the first Panther to reach the individual final. Walker lost in the semifinals in 1987.
Walker, a senior who is 44-10 this year, will face George Zink of Southern Illinois Edwardsville in today’s final at noon. Zink defeated Hampton’s Islam Ul-Haq, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, in the semifinals.
