Woodbridge’s Keefe, Boyd, Valencia’s Granger Are Section Players of Year
Adam Keefe and Tiffany Boyd of Woodbridge High School and Michele Granger of Valencia have been named Southern Section players of the year.
Keefe, a 6-foot 9-inch middle blocker, was named player of the year in 2-A volleyball. Keefe led the Warriors to the section quarterfinals.
Boyd, the 2-A softball player of the year, led Woodbridge to the 2-A championship. She finished her senior season at 25-4 with an earned-run-average of 0.00.
Granger, the 3-A softball player of the year, finished her senior season at 22-4 with 449 strikeouts and 9 no-hitters.
Other Orange County athletes named to All-Southern Section first teams:
In 4-A softball: Rae Rice and Shannon Dolan of Fountain Valley and Diane Pohl and Tanya Smith of Cypress.
In 3-A softball: Cheryl Longeway, Deanna Mays and Suzie Berdis of Kennedy; Chanele Chambrone of Tustin, and Suzie Barnett of Villa Park.
In 2-A softball: Margo Melendrez and Erika Schlitz of Laguna Hills; Kim Johnson and Mary Dugard of Woodbridge, and Michelle Shean of San Clemente.
In 4-A volleyball: Brian Boone of Edison, Drew Sheward of Newport Harbor, Sean Stafford of Laguna Beach and Doug Partis of Marina.
In Small School baseball: Derek Evans of Garden Grove Claremont.
