Local News in Brief : Plane Takes Off After Repairs in Santa Clarita
Aplane struck by a truck after making an emergency landing on Magic Mountain Parkway in Santa Clarita was repaired on the side of the road Monday before taking off from a nearby field, officials said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the light plane piloted by Keith Carbine, 23, of Newbury Park, landed on the parkway just east of McBean Parkway about 11:45 p.m. Sunday after its engine developed electrical problems.
Carbine was unhurt. But five minutes after the landing, a truck traveling on the parkway clipped the plane’s wing, causing about $800 in damage, officials said. No one in the truck was hurt.
On Monday, a crew of mechanics repaired the wing, pushed the plane into a nearby field and another pilot took off while the mechanics cheered. The rental plane was from Van Nuys Airport, officials said.
