The Doctorate Wins at Los Alamitos; Vandys Policy 2nd
The Doctorate won his sixth race in nine starts Thursday night by edging Vandys Policy in the eighth race quarter horse feature at Los Alamitos.
The Doctorate broke well from his outside post and held off Vandys Policy’s closing surge. Oughterdo Good finished 3/4 length back in third in the field of seven older allowance performers.
Racing for a $5,000 claiming price earlier this year at Bay Meadows, The Doctorate has climbed the ladder rapidly. He finished in a dead heat with Woody Allen in his previous allowance start.
The Doctorate, a 3-5 favorite, paid $3.20, $3.20 and $2.20. Vandys Policy, who brought lifetime earnings of $285,734 into Thursday’s contest, paid $5.80 and $2.80, and Oughterdo Good paid $3.20.
