San Clemente Surfer at Home to Challenge Leader
Dino Andino of San Clemente will continue to chase points leader Mike Lambresi this week in the 10th leg of the U.S. Pro Tour of Surfing and Bodyboarding, which begins today in San Clemente.
The competition continues through Sunday. The bodyboarding final will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday and the surfing final at 1:30 p.m.
Andino moved from third to second in the standings after he won the tour’s ninth event last week in Hawaii. Lambresi, a Carlsbad resident, leads Andino, 6,667-5,644, with five events remaining.
Jim Hogan, also of San Clemente, is expected to challenge Lambresi and Andino this week. Hogan won three of the first four events last season, but he has been bothered by a knee injury this season and has not won.
In the bodyboard competition, Lani Mucha of Anaheim is 348 points behind leader Scott Aichner of Ventura in the overall standings.
