Four former National Football League players will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame at Canton, Ohio, today, among them former Raider receiver Fred Biletnikoff. The others are Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka; Jack Ham, who played with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Alan Page, who ended his career with the Bears after starring for the Minnesota Vikings.

Biletnikoff, of Florida State, began his career as a special teams player. But seven games into his rookie year of 1965, he caught 7 passes for 118 yards and missed only eight games over the next 13 seasons.

He caught 589 passes for 76 touchdowns and played in three NFL title games, five AFC championship games and Super Bowls II and XI. He was named most valuable player in Super Bowl XI with 4 receptions for 79 yards.

Page went from Central Catholic High School in Canton to Notre Dame and then to Minnesota, where he played defensive tackle from 1967 through 1978. He was the NFL’s most valuable player in 1971, the first defensive player ever to receive that honor.

Linebacker Ham, a Penn State graduate, was all-conference or All-Pro for seven straight years and had 25 1/2 sacks, 21 fumble recoveries and 32 interceptions.

Ditka, a noted blocker as well as an offensive threat for the Bears as a tight end, caught 427 passes for 43 touchdowns during his 12 seasons. He coached the Bears to a Super Bowl championship in 1986.
