San Jose State student government officers have filed a suit against university President Gail Fullerton for her decision last May to eliminate four intercollegiate athletic programs.

The Associated Students board of directors allege in the suit that the Athletic Board, which made the decision during meetings last spring, did not conduct open meetings, violating federal civil rights laws under the Brown Act.

The suit, filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court, asks the court to force the university to reinstate the dropped programs and order open hearings on any future decisions to eliminate athletic programs.
